In August 2010, DePuy Orthopaedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, recalled two of its ASR hip replacement devices: the ASR XL Acetabular System and the ASR Hip Resurfacing System. According to DePuy, more than 90,000 recipients worldwide have had one or both of these two ASR hip replacement devices implanted.
